Losing 2-4 at home to Benfica, Real Madrid must go through the playoffs

  Real Madrid are confirmed to have advanced through to the playoffs of the 2025/26 Champions League after suffering a 2-4 defeat away to Benfica in the final matchday of the league phase at the Estadio da Luz, early Thursday morning WIB.

This defeat meant Real Madrid failed to finish in the top eight and had to go through the playoffs.

El Real is in ninth place in the league standings with 15 points, one point behind Manchester City in eighth place.

Meanwhile, Benfica secured the final playoff spot by finishing in 24th place with nine points from eight matches, ahead of Marseille on goal difference, according to UEFA's official website.

Coach Alvaro Arbeloa fielded Franco Mastantuono, Kylian Mbappe, and Vinicius Junior in the front line.
