Goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen is reportedly close to leaving Barcelona to join Girona in the 2026 winter transfer window.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Ter Stegen has agreed to a loan move to Girona.
"Girona are close to finalizing a loan deal for Marc-Andre ter Stegen. The German goalkeeper has agreed to the move," Romano wrote on his X account on Friday (16/1).
A lack of playing time in the second half of the season was the main factor that prompted Ter Stegen to consider leaving.
This season, Ter Stegen has lost his first-choice status under Hansi Flick. The 33-year-old goalkeeper now sits behind Joan Garcia and Wojciech Szczesny in Barcelona's goalkeeping pecking order.
