Manchester United interim manager Michael Carrick has stressed that he will not be carried away by the euphoria of leading his team to victory over Manchester City in the 2025/26 Premier League season.
According to Carrick, the victory should be a benchmark for performance, not just a momentary moment.
"I'm not getting carried away. It's just one result, but this kind of feeling needs to become a regular occurrence with this level of performance," Carrick said, as quoted by Sky Sports after the match.
Manchester United secured a convincing 2-0 victory over Manchester City in the 22nd week of the Premier League at Old Trafford Stadium.
The Red Devils' two goals were scored by Bryan Mbeumo in the 65th minute and Patrick Dorgu in the 76th minute, ensuring three important points for the hosts.
This result lifted Manchester United to fourth place in the standings with 35 points.
The win over their city rivals also extended Carrick's positive record during his time as interim manager, where he has yet to taste defeat.
Carrick admitted the victory felt special, considering the team's limited preparation time. However, he emphasized that the most important thing is maintaining consistency in the game going forward.
"Today was truly special. We put everything together quickly and tried to make an impact on the team. There's a strong emotional bond between the staff and the players about what we want to do," he explained.
