The company has implemented an innovative engineering model that redefines traditional concepts of well design.
The joint technical team from PetroGulf Egypt and the Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation successfully modernized the drilling system through:
Combining two operational phases into one phase,
And the complete elimination of the need for traditional casing pipe installation.
This upgrade resulted in a reduction of drilling time by 5.5 days — a record that reflects unprecedented speed of execution and is an indication of a significant improvement in operational efficiency using the latest available technologies.
This new well is expected to contribute to raising the company's daily production to more than 30,000 barrels of crude oil, thus enhancing its contribution to supporting local energy supplies.
This achievement reflects the ability of Egyptian engineering personnel to devise unconventional solutions to meet the challenges of the energy sector, in light of the state’s ambitious plan to increase petroleum reserves and maximize the benefit from available resources.
The GNN-16 well experience is planned to be generalized in the future in similar fields, as a reference model for reducing extraction costs, which contributes to enhancing the attractiveness of the Egyptian petroleum sector to foreign investments, and supports the stability of energy supplies in the medium and long term.
