The agency states in its announcement that the Russian Flu-M vaccine reduces the risk of contracting influenza by 80-90 percent.

The statement read: "The H3N2 strain, known as the 'Hong Kong strain,' is the most prevalent of the influenza strains currently circulating in Russia. According to the Smorodintsev Influenza Research Institute - a reference center for the diagnosis of influenza and acute viral respiratory infections, as well as the WHO National Influenza Center, the Flu-M vaccine has proven effective against the currently circulating H3N2 strain."

The agency's press office notes that the Flu-M vaccine is the first Russian influenza vaccine to receive WHO approval and is recommended by UN agencies such as the Pan American Health Organization's Revolving Fund and the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF).

In addition, timely vaccination with the Flu-M vaccine reduces the risk of infection by 80-90 percent, and if infection does occur, the symptoms are mild and without complications.

According to the agency's statement, statistics show that the vast majority of patients hospitalized with severe influenza were unvaccinated. Among the most serious complications of influenza are damage to the central nervous system and viral pneumonia, which is characterized by a high mortality rate. In rare cases, neurological complications such as impaired vision, hearing, taste, and smell are observed.
