The Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs has emphasized that all online gaming platforms must comply with regulations on child protection in the digital space by strengthening age verification, limiting interaction features, and implementing effective content moderation.
"The government emphasizes that all platforms are obliged to comply with child protection regulations, including strengthening age verification, limiting interaction features, and effective content moderation," Alexander Sabar, Director General of Digital Space Supervision at the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs, told ANTARA in Jakarta on Thursday.
He made this statement in response to the continued access by many minors of minors to online gaming platforms by impersonating their parents. Alexander explained that the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs continues to communicate with online gaming platforms to address this issue.
The obligations of online gaming platforms are strengthened through Government Regulation Number 17 of 2025 concerning the Governance of Electronic System Implementation in Child Protection (PP Tunas), which requires all Electronic System Providers (PSE) or digital platforms to implement child protection comprehensively and responsibly.
Regarding the handling of games with user-generated content ( UGC), the Ministry of Communication and Digital has established the Indonesian Game Rating System (IGRS) as a standard for age and content classification as well as an educational instrument for the public.
