The Ministry of Communication and Digital says radicalism in games spreads through social features

The Ministry of Communication and Digital says radicalism in games spreads through social features  The Ministry of Communication and Digital (Kemkomdigi) stated that the spread of radicalism in online gaming platforms is carried out through interactions on social features such as private chat , voice chat , and communities.

Alexander Sabar, Director General of Digital Space Supervision at the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs, stated that the National Counterterrorism Agency (BNPT) is monitoring several interaction- and community-based online gaming platforms due to their potential for misuse for radicalization, particularly against children.

"What is of concern is not the content of online games , but rather the use of interactive features such as private chat , voice chat , and communities within the game," Alexander told ANTARA in Jakarta on Thursday.

He explained that the social features in games can be misused to build personal relationships with child users ( grooming ). The perpetrators then direct users to closed channels outside the game platform and gradually expose them to intolerant narratives and radical ideologies.
