Get to know the stem cells studied by Unbraw students at Kyoto University
  Brawijaya University (Unbraw) graduate Rafiq Usdiqa Maulana is being guided to study cutting-edge stem cell technology at Kyoto University.

The technology was named Induced Pluripotent Stem Cells (iPS cells) by its inventor, Professor Shinya Yamanaka. Yamanaka received the Nobel Prize in 2012 for this landmark discovery.

"The Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine 2012 is awarded jointly to Sir John B. Gurdon and Shinya Yamanaka 'for the discovery that adult cells can be reprogrammed to become multifunctional (pluripotent),'" the Nobel Prize statement said, as reported by nobelprize.org.
