The Indonesian women's badminton team secured their place in the quarterfinals of the 2026 Asian Team Championships (BATC) as Group X runners-up despite narrowly losing 2-3 to Japan in their final group stage match at the Conson Gymnasium in Qingdao, China, on Thursday.
Ni Kadek Dhinda Amartya Pratiwi's victory in the fifth match marked the end of Indonesia's struggle and reduced the gap to Japan, who emerged as group winners.
"I'm happy to be able to participate in this BATC event and I'm also happy to be able to contribute points with the full support of the team behind me," said Dhinda in an official statement after the match.
Although the match result no longer determines the final group position, Dhinda still put in a competitive performance in the final match. The Indonesian women's singles player defeated Yuzuno Watanabe in straight games, 21-6, 22-20, to narrow the final score to 2-3.
