Indonesian women's tennis player Janice Tjen has advanced to the second round of the doubles event, while Aldila Sutjiadi was eliminated from the WTA 1000 Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships.
Janice, who partnered with Marie Bouzkova, successfully defeated Jiang Xinyu/Ulrikke Eikeri after going through a super tie-break 6-2, 4-6, 10-5, while Aldila, who partnered with Irina Khromacheva, was forced to surrender by Alexandra Panova/Diana Shnaider with 5-7, 2-6.
Janice/Bouzkova dominated the first set. They won 85.6 percent of their first-serve points, converted two of their four break point opportunities, and committed only one double fault while their opponents had four, according to WTA statistics.
Having won the first set, Janice/Bouzkova faced pressure in the second set as their opponents rallied. Eikeri/Jiang played aggressively, hitting an ace, converting two of their five break point opportunities, and winning 55 percent of their first return points.
