Janice/Eala successfully secured victory after going through a suoer tie-break over the Canadian-French pair Leylah Fernandez/Kristina Mladenovic with a final score of 7-5, 3-6, 10-6, according to WTA records.
"This is the first time we've played together," Janice said after the first-round doubles match at the WTA 500 event.
The match, which lasted one hour and 33 minutes, was a tight affair. Armed with a strong serve, Janice/Eala won the first set, converting two of their four break point opportunities.
