Vance: Trump will resort to the "military option" if he exhausts his options in Iran.

US Vice President JD Vance warned of the difficulty of diplomacy with Iran given the nature of its political system, stressing that Trump would not hesitate to resort to military force if other options were exhausted.

In an interview with Megyn Kelly on her show, "The Megyn Kelly Show," Vance described Iran as "an unusual country to conduct diplomacy with," saying the problem is that the real power lies with Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, making communication with "the person in charge of the country" virtually impossible. He added, "This complicates things and makes the whole situation absurd," referring to the limited effectiveness of official contacts with Tehran.

Vance explained that the US administration’s goal is to prevent Iran from acquiring a nuclear weapon, warning that Tehran’s acquisition of the weapon would encourage other countries in the region to seek to acquire their own nuclear arsenal, which would lead to a dangerous arms race.

He noted that President Donald Trump seeks to achieve as many of his goals as possible through non-military and diplomatic means, but that he "will keep all options on the table," and that if he concludes that the military option is the only remaining path, he will ultimately take it.
