The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) has confirmed that Iran will still participate in the 2026 World Cup despite concerns over the security situation ahead of the tournament, which will be held in the United States, Canada and Mexico.
AFC Secretary General Windsor John said his party had not received any notification letter stating that Iran had withdrawn from the 2026 World Cup.
"They are our members. We want them to play. As far as we know, Iran will play," he said at a press conference in Kuala Lumpur.
