The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has officially stripped Senegal of its 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) title after the CAF Appeals Council ruled that the team had forfeited the final.
"The Appeals Chamber ruled that, pursuant to Article 84 of the African Cup of Nations Regulations, the Senegalese national team was declared the loser of the final match of AFCON 2025, with the match result recorded as 3-0 in favor of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF)," CAF said in a statement, as quoted by NBC on Wednesday.
Morocco has been declared the 2025 AFCON champion following a walk-off by the Senegalese team in protest. As a result, Morocco won 3-0.
This decision overturned the previous result which confirmed Senegal's 1-0 victory over Morocco in the final match held on January 18, 2026 at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium, Rabat.
