DRC: Military spokesman for the AFC/M23 killed in a drone attack

Willy Ngoma, military spokesman for the AF/M23, died overnight Monday to Tuesday in North Kivu in the Democratic Republic of Congo, two senior rebel officials said.

He was killed in drone strikes attributed to the Wazalendo, allies of the FARDC, in the Masisi territory, particularly on the Rubaya axis where fighting has been reported.

Earlier in the morning, the political spokesperson for the AFC/M23 again accused the Congolese government on his X account of violating the ceasefire by engaging, according to him, in total war on all front lines and beyond.

Willy Ngoma, 52, was under UN Security Council sanctions for obstructing the peace process and human rights violations. Furthermore, he was also targeted by the United States in December 2023 for human rights violations and murder, among other charges.
