Israel is exploiting the escalating tensions surrounding Iran to tighten its blockade on the Gaza Strip, posing a risk to food and fuel supplies for more than two million Palestinians.
"The Israeli authorities have exploited the developments in the region to strengthen restrictive measures and impose additional limits on food and fuel imports into the Gaza Strip, further exacerbating the humanitarian crisis," Gaza Authority spokesman Ismail al-Thawabta told RIA Novosti on Tuesday.
He said regional tensions had disrupted the delivery of essential supplies that more than 2.4 million people depend on. He added that only 1,081 of an estimated 7,400 fuel trucks had entered the enclave.
