Ferrari driver Lewis Hamilton said his team was starting to show improvements in performance after he and teammate Charles Leclerc secured second-row starting positions at the Chinese Grand Prix.
Hamilton recorded the third fastest time in qualifying, 0.351 seconds behind Mercedes driver Kimi Antonelli who took pole position , and was right behind George Russell in the competition at the Shanghai Park Circuit.
"I was watching it carefully because I don't think George had a consistent run of laps and maybe he could have been a bit quicker if he had the chance," Hamilton said, as quoted on the official Formula 1 website.
"But anyway, we take this result, and I think we've improved the car a bit. We didn't change or upgrade the car, so it's not like we've completely reduced the gap, but we've made a step forward," he added.
