Hegseth: Negotiations to end the war with Iran are real and gaining momentum

US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth confirmed  that talks to end the war in Iran are gaining momentum, despite having been ongoing for more than a month.

Hegseth told reporters that the negotiations were “very real, ongoing and active, and I think they are gaining momentum,” calling on the new Iranian regime to be wiser than its predecessor.

Higseth, who announced that he visited troops in the Middle East on Saturday to monitor the military operation against Iran, confirmed that all options are on the table, including sending American troops to Iran.

He said that the past 24 hours had seen “fewer hostile missiles launched by Iran,” noting the impact of the US strikes in causing a large-scale exodus in Iran.

Regarding the Strait of Hormuz, Hegseth said the objectives are very clear and the United States has set the conditions necessary for success, adding that the world must be prepared to assume responsibility and "intervene in this vital waterway as well." He asserted that more ships are passing through the strait thanks to US President Donald Trump.
