Honor releases robot phone ahead of MWC 2026
Chinese technology brand Honor on Sunday (March 1) launched what it calls the industry's first "Robot Phone" ahead of the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2026 in Barcelona, Spain, and introduced its new concept of Augmented Human Intelligence (AHI).

At a global product launch event, Honor CEO Li Jian said that the Robot Phone is equipped with the industry's first three-axis gimbal camera system.

The camera system is integrated into the smartphone. Li calls it a new species of smartphone.

According to Honor, this product combines two core artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities: tangible intelligent interaction and flagship-grade imaging capabilities, to deliver what Honor calls an embodied AI experience.

The device supports full-angle AI video calling, expressive body language interactions, and rhythmic gestures.

The device also delivers cinema-grade imaging performance, including advanced anti-shake video functionality and AI-based object tracking.

At the launch event, Honor officially unveiled the AHI concept. "The essence of AI is human-centric," Li said.

"AI should combine intelligence quotient (IQ) with emotional intelligence (EQ), enhancing the human ability to adapt, evolve, and enjoy the present in a rapidly changing world. That is the AHI philosophy that Honor believes in."

On the same day, Honor also launched its flagship foldable smartphone, the Magic V6, to the global market, with a folded thickness of just 8.75 mm. The company's first humanoid robot was also unveiled at the event.

This year's MWC was held from March 2-5 in Barcelona, Spain, with the exhibition area hosting more than 100 pavilions representing various countries, regions, and technologies.
