Tottenham Hotspur manager Igor Tudor said goalkeeper Antonin "Toni" Kinsky understood why he was substituted early, in the 17th minute, in the first leg of the 2025/2026 Champions League round of 16 against Atletico Madrid.
In the match at the Metropolitano Stadium, Madrid, Tottenham lost with a score of 2-5 to the hosts.
"It's not a pleasant experience, but Toni understands. He's a very good goalkeeper and a very good person," Tudor said, as quoted on Tottenham Hotspur's official website.
Toni, making his Champions League debut, made two blunders that gave Atletico a 3-0 lead in the first 15 minutes.
This made the 22-year-old goalkeeper withdrawn and replaced by Guglielmo Vicario.
