KOI asks PSSI to be proactive in fighting for football to appear at the Asian Games
Chairman of the Indonesian Olympic Committee , Raja Sapta Oktohari, has asked the All Indonesia Football Association  to proactively fight for Indonesian football to participate in the 2026 Asian Games.

"We urge the PSSI to be proactive and speak out  Raja Sapta Oktohari told the media.

The Garuda squad will not be able to participate in the 2026 Asian Games in Nagoya, Japan, this coming October due to changes in the Asian Football Confederation  and the Olympic Council of Asia  regulations that limit the men's football tournament to just 16 teams.

Only countries that qualify for the final round of the AFC U-23 Asian Cup 2026 will be allowed to participate. This means that the event is a qualifier for the 2026 Asian Games.

Oktohari has lodged a protest with the relevant authorities because the changes to the regulations regarding stricter Asian Games qualifications were only socialized after the AFC U-23 event took place, thus harming many countries, including Indonesia.
