Malaga will host the 2026 FIBA 3x3 World Tour series.

Malaga will host the 2026 FIBA 3x3 World Tour series.  The International Basketball Federation (FIBA) has added several new cities to its 2026 3x3 basketball competition calendar, including naming Malaga as one of the hosts of the FIBA 3x3 World Tour series.

The FIBA website stated on Thursday that the World Tour series in Malaga marks the return of the competition to Spain after it was last held in Madrid in 2012.

The addition of Malaga also forms part of the ever-expanding professional 3x3 competition calendar.

In addition to the World Tour series, FIBA is also adding a number of qualifying tournaments to the FIBA 3x3 Challenger series for the 2026 season.

FIBA said the presence of new cities demonstrates the rapid growth of 3x3 basketball in various regions, including Europe, Asia, and the Americas.

Challenger tournaments are high-level competitions in the professional circuit that give participating teams the opportunity to secure a ticket to appear in the World Tour series.

Through this route, teams that perform well in Challenger have the opportunity to qualify for various World Tour series held in several major cities around the world.

FIBA believes that the combination of established host cities and new locations will further expand the reach and popularity of 3x3 basketball globally.
