Middle East war: Kenya Airways bookings surge

Kenya Airways has indicated that bookings on its flights have increased sharply in recent weeks, as disruptions related to the conflict in the Middle East are redefining travel patterns globally.

The airline reported that its load factor had reached near full capacity, a significant increase compared to levels recorded at the beginning of the year. According to its executives, this increase is primarily due to travelers from Europe, the United States, and parts of Asia.

Current tensions involving Iran, the United States, and Israel have disrupted the aviation sector, forcing several carriers to alter flight routes, avoid certain airspaces, and, in some cases, suspend services entirely. These changes have reduced passenger options and shifted demand further toward airlines operating outside the immediate conflict zone.

Kenya Airways' acting chief executive, George Kamal, said that the change became noticeable after February, with bookings steadily increasing to near full capacity levels across much of its network.

Kenya Airways indicated that routes linking Africa to Western and Asian markets are currently performing particularly well, benefiting from passenger demand for alternative connections.
