Singapore on Monday (March 9) launched an essay competition for pre-university students on the theme of the city-state's economic future driven by artificial intelligence (AI), with a top prize of 3,000 Singapore dollars.
Participants were asked to examine how AI can boost productivity, create new industries, and strengthen Singapore's competitiveness, as well as address challenges such as its impact on the labor market and ethical governance issues, the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) and the Economic Society of Singapore (SES) said in a joint statement.
Organizers said the theme aligns with the government's efforts to encourage AI adoption by 2026.
This competition is open to all pre-university students who are studying in Singapore regardless of nationality, as well as to pre-university students from Singapore who are studying abroad.
