Minister of Population and Family Development Head of the National Population and Family Planning Board , Wihaji, stated that efforts to protect children in accessing digital spaces are largely determined by the role of the family.
Wihaji noted that the experience of several countries, including Australia, demonstrates that age restrictions on social media access are an important step. However, in practice, these regulations can still be circumvented by children, for example by borrowing their parents' devices or using adult identities.
"Therefore, the Ministry of Population and Family Development/BKKBN believes that the success of this policy is not solely determined by regulations or technology, but is also largely determined by the role of families," Wihaji said in a statement.
