German tennis player Alexander Zverev and French tennis player Arthur Fils will meet in the quarterfinals of the 2026 BNP Paribas Open after each defeated their opponents in the round of 16 of the ATP Masters 1000 event in Indian Wells.
Fils defeated Canadian ninth seed Felix Auger-Aliassime 6-3, 7-6(9), after a dramatic second set in which Fils squandered a 4-2 lead before coming back from 0/5 down in the tie-break to win in straight sets.
"I was 0/5 in the tie-break and I went to my coaching team and started complaining. Ivan tried to tell me to stay focused, and then Lapo told me to stop complaining," Fils said after the match.
