A dangerous link between pesticides and cancer

A recent scientific study has shown that continuous exposure to pesticides increases the risk of developing cancer.

The study was conducted by scientists from the University of Toulouse, the French Pasteur Institute, and scientists from the National Institute of Oncology in Peru. The researchers relied on data from 150,000 cancer patients in Peru and compared it with maps indicating areas with high pesticide pollution in the country.

The results showed that the risk of developing cancer in areas with high levels of pesticide pollution was 150% higher compared to other areas. These findings were made possible by a new methodology adopted by the researchers, which considers the complex impact of pesticides in real-world environments, rather than focusing solely on isolated chemicals.

In addition, the study showed that pesticides can disrupt cellular processes, making tissues more susceptible to other risk factors such as inflammation or infection. These changes occur before tumors develop, indicating an early effect of pesticides on the body.

The researchers noted that they focused primarily on pesticide mixtures, which may have a stronger effect on health than chemicals if each substance is used alone.
