Aldila had no trouble adapting to clay courts with Janice at the Madrid Open

Indonesian women's tennis player Aldila Sutjiadi admitted she had no difficulty adapting to the red clay courts when she made her debut as a pair with compatriot Janice Tjen for the 2026 Madrid Open.

The WTA 1000 tournament marked Alidla/Janice's first appearance on red clay, having competed at the Charleston Open on green clay. For Alidla, this wasn't her first time competing at the Madrid Open, but it was Janice's debut at the Caja Magica.

" This is my first time with red clay , and there weren't actually many adjustments because I've partnered with Janice several times, so we already know each other's strengths and weaknesses," Aldila.

Facing the different surface characteristics, Aldila admitted she had already adapted since arriving in Indonesia. She trained on clay courts in Jakarta before leaving for Madrid.

"Yesterday, we had four days of training in Jakarta. We also practiced on clay there, so by the time we got here, we had adjusted to the court quite well," said Aldila.
