IMF: Mozambique repays its debt early

Mozambique has fully repaid its debt of 515.04 million Special Drawing Rights, or 630 million US dollars, to the International Monetary Fund.

Maputo opted for early repayment. While the moratorium stipulated a payment to the IMF of millions of dollars this year, 107.5 million in 2027, 129.3 million in 2028 and 136.4 million in 2029.

No new program between Mozambique and the International Monetary Fund has been announced yet. The last IMF review in Maputo took place in February. At that time, the country's debt to the institution reached 226% of its quota.
