Instagram software glitch caused some users' photos to appear in black and white

If Instagram has recently turned your colorful posts into black and white, don't worry, the problem isn't with your camera or your account

If Instagram has recently turned your colorful posts into black and white, don't worry, the problem isn't with your camera or your account.

The platform, owned by Meta, confirmed to Engadget that the cause was a software glitch that specifically affected HDR images.

Instagram said in a statement: "Earlier today, a technical issue caused some HDR images to appear incorrectly in black and white for a segment of accounts."

There were complaints dated April 18 and 19, which means the problem lasted a little longer for some users.

Regardless of when the glitch started causing problems, the Instagram team confirmed that the issue has since been fixed. If your posts are still appearing in black and white, Instagram confirmed that the fix will automatically restore affected photo posts to their original state within the next few hours. They added, "We apologize for any inconvenience."
