Iran’s Supreme National Security Council announced that it had received new proposals from the United States during the recent visit of Pakistani Army Chief Asim Munir to Tehran, and that these proposals are currently under consideration.

The statement from the Supreme National Security Council, as reported by the Iranian news agency Tasnim, reads: "During the past few days, while the Pakistani army chief was in Tehran as a mediator, new American proposals were presented, and Iran is studying them."

Pakistani Army Chief Asim Munir arrived in Tehran on April 15, accompanied by Interior Minister Mohsen Naqvi, where he met with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi and Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf.

According to diplomatic sources, the new US proposals included a negotiating framework focusing on three main issues: the Iranian nuclear program, control of the Strait of Hormuz, and compensation for war damages.

The sources indicated that Washington proposed suspending uranium enrichment for 20 years in exchange for easing sanctions, while Tehran offered a suspension for only 5 years, with the possibility of reaching an intermediate settlement of up to 10 years under a joint monitoring mechanism.

Iran has also agreed in principle to a Pakistani proposal to have its nuclear program monitored by a third party comprising four countries in addition to the International Atomic Energy Agency, and the US side is awaiting an official response to this proposal.

Mediators are trying to organize a new round of negotiations, with White House spokeswoman Caroline Levitt confirming that the next round "will most likely be held in Islamabad," praising Pakistan's role "as the sole mediator in these negotiations."

US President Donald Trump had expressed optimism about reaching an agreement, saying: "I think the war could end very soon. If they are smart, it will end soon."
