Jude Bellingham buys stake in Birmingham cricket club

Real Madrid star Jude Bellingham has bought a minority stake in Birmingham Phoenix, a cricket club based in the city of Birmingham.

The England national team midfielder purchased a 1.2 percent stake in Birmingham Phoenix with an estimated investment of 18.5 billion Rupiah or around 800 thousand Pounds Sterling.

"I love the city of Birmingham. I've been really impressed with what the fans in Birmingham have given me," Jude Bellingham was quoted as saying by The Athletic.

"I'm a huge fan of cricket, so when I got the opportunity to invest, I didn't think twice. I'm thrilled to be among the current investors," added the former Birmingham City player.

Birmingham is a very special city for the 22-year-old.

The reason is that Jude Bellingham is a player who was born from the Birmingham City academy.

Following Jude's move to Borussia Dortmund, Birmingham City even decided to retire his jersey number 22.

Bellingham is committed to taking Birmingham Phoenix to the next level by partnering with NFL legend Tom Brady.

"Jude understands the highest standards in sport, but more importantly, as someone who grew up in the West Midlands and played it on the streets around him, he understands the importance of sport and how it can play a positive role in young people's lives," said Birmingham Phoenix Executive Director Stuart Cain.
