Dr. Mark Gadzian, a specialist in andrology and oncology, identified the most important risk factors for cancer, many of which are controllable.
According to him, nearly one-third of cancer deaths are linked to smoking, alcohol abuse, obesity, and lack of physical activity.
In addition, malnutrition, air pollution, certain infections, exposure to ultraviolet and ionizing radiation (including radiation), genetics, aging, chronic inflammation, and chronic stress contribute to the development of cancer.
Dr. Gadzian emphasizes that the more risk factors a person has, the higher their likelihood of developing cancer. Therefore, he advises, as essential preventative measures, quitting smoking, limiting alcohol consumption, maintaining a healthy weight, increasing physical activity, protecting the skin from sun damage, and getting vaccinated against HPV and hepatitis B, when necessary.
