Liverpool manager Arne Slott spoke about the reasons for his team's decline this season, explaining that Mohamed Salah's departure is a major loss for the Reds and will bring about a radical change in the team.

In comments to Sky Sports, Slott discussed the possibility of Liverpool making new signings next summer, saying: "I don't care about the numbers, but it's clear that Mohamed Salah and Robert will leave. This means a change, a big change, given their huge impact on the club over the past nine years."

He added: "But at the moment my main focus is on the upcoming derby match and the one after that. As is customary in the world of football, the sporting director is responsible for planning for the medium and long term. Of course, we are having talks about this, but my main focus is on the current results because we want all the players to qualify to play in the Champions League next season."

Regarding his message to Liverpool fans, he continued: "I think they are excited to see the players we have already signed. They have shown this season how good they are. I know things don't always go this way, but the number of goals we conceded in extra time will never happen again this season. It is impossible for this to happen again. This will lead to us gaining 5, 6, 7, 8 or 9 more points this season."

He added: “If we look at the injuries we’ve had and I could mention many other reasons, I feel we’ve been very unlucky this season. We could easily perform much better next season if we reduce the bad luck and I think there’s more to come, so it’s a double-edged sword.”

Liverpool are currently fifth in the Premier League table with 52 points and are aiming for three points to continue their pursuit of Aston Villa for fourth place.
Everton currently sit in tenth place in the English Premier League table with 47 points.
