Netflix has launched a standalone app for children's games called Netflix Playground, which can be downloaded and used on iOS and Android devices.
Netflix Playground offers a growing collection of children's games. At launch, the app already offered several titles featuring characters from popular children's series.
The app, designed for children aged eight and under, is already available in several countries, including the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, the Philippines, and New Zealand. It will launch globally on April 28 as part of Netflix's subscription service.
One of the app's advantages is its ability to be accessed offline without an internet connection, making it suitable for long-distance travel, such as on flights or when traveling with family. Furthermore, Netflix Playground will not display ads or in-app purchases.
Some of the games available include “Playtime With Peppa Pig” where players explore Peppa Pig’s world through various interactive activities.
Additionally, there's a "Sesame Street"-themed game that trains memory card matching skills and coordination through connect-the-dots gameplay. Other titles include "Let's Color," "Storybots," and "Bad Dinosaurs."
