New Russian vaccine against dengue fever

The Russian Federal Medical-Biological Agency announced the development of a new vaccine against dengue fever

Scientists in Russia have developed a new vaccine against dengue fever, and clinical trials of this vaccine have begun," said the agency's head, Veronika Skvortsova.

Skvortsova had previously indicated that scientists in Russia are working on developing several new vaccines, including vaccines against cancer. Elena Parovichnikova, Director General of the National Medical Research Center for Hematology of the Russian Ministry of Health, recently announced the completion of clinical trials for a domestic drug used to treat leukemia.

Dengue fever is a viral infection transmitted to humans through the bites of mosquitoes carrying the virus. Some people may experience symptoms such as fever, muscle, bone and joint pain, vomiting, nausea, mild pain behind the eye, skin rash, and swollen lymph nodes.

This infection is usually found in tropical and subtropical climates around the world. Although many infections are asymptomatic or cause only mild illness, the virus can sometimes cause serious complications that may lead to death.
