Dr. Alexander Omnov, from the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Education, reported that concussion can lead to post-traumatic epilepsy, cerebral edema, increased intracranial pressure, changes in behavior, and increased fatigue.
He says: "In the case of concussion, the injured person should be calmed and placed on their side to prevent choking in case of vomiting, with the use of cold compresses. Depending on the severity of the condition, an ambulance should be contacted or a specialist doctor should be consulted, whether a trauma specialist or a neurologist. The examination is necessary, because the shock or impact may not only cause a concussion, but may also lead to the formation of a hematoma. If a concussion is left untreated, it may lead to serious long-term consequences, including post-traumatic epilepsy, cerebral edema, increased intracranial pressure, behavioral changes, and increased fatigue."
