San Antonio Spurs star Victor Wembanyama will still travel with the team to Portland even though his status for Game 3 of the NBA playoffs remains uncertain.
"He's making progress, but his status for Game 3 is still uncertain," San Antonio Spurs coach Mitch Johnson said of the Frenchman's condition, as quoted from the NBA.
Wembanyama must complete a series of additional steps in the NBA's concussion protocol before being cleared to play. Nevertheless, the team flew him to Portland on Thursday afternoon local time for two road games this weekend.
Wembanyama was spotted at the team's training facility for the second consecutive day. Teammate Julian Champagnie noted that Wembanyama was seen making some light throws on the pitch despite not being in uniform.
San Antonio Spurs guard De'Aaron Fox stated that Wembanyama's appearance at the morning practice session was brief. Fox also emphasized that the entire team's top priority right now is ensuring Wembanyama's full recovery.
