West Bank: Israeli army injures Palestinian in Nablus amid settler attacks and incursions into Al-Aqsa Mosque

The Palestinian Red Crescent Society said in a brief statement that its crews transported a 36-year-old man to the hospital after he was severely beaten by occupation soldiers in Iraq Burin.

In Tulkarm, the occupation forces stormed the Shweika suburb north of the city with a number of military vehicles, and patrolled the main streets amid a heavy deployment, according to local sources.

The occupation forces fired sound bombs and tear gas, forced shop owners to close, and raided buildings and turned them into military observation points, amid heavy live fire in the Tulkarm camp.

In the Nablus governorate in the northern West Bank, settlers burned a house and two vehicles in the village of Beit Ummar, and cut down more than 150 olive trees in areas southeast of the village of Al-Lubban Al-Sharqiya, according to local sources.

These attacks come as part of a continuous escalation that in recent days has included the bulldozing of agricultural lands and the uprooting of hundreds of fruit trees.

Since October 2023, various areas in the West Bank have witnessed an escalation in settler attacks and Israeli army incursions.

According to data from the Palestinian Wall and Settlement Resistance Commission, settlers carried out 497 attacks against Palestinians and their property in the West Bank during March, resulting in the killing of nine Palestinians.

In parallel, dozens of settlers stormed the courtyards of the Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem on Wednesday under the protection of the Israeli occupation police, and performed religious rituals and dances, while eyewitnesses reported the arrest of five girls from inside the mosque.

Far-right groups, including "B'edina," called for large-scale incursions into the mosque and the raising of the Israeli flag to mark the anniversary of Israel's declaration of independence, which falls on this day according to the Hebrew calendar. One photograph showed a settler wearing a shirt bearing the Israeli flag. Israeli police did nothing to stop these violations of the status quo at the mosque.

According to official Palestinian data, attacks by the Israeli army and settlers in the West Bank since October 2023 have resulted in the martyrdom of at least 1,154 Palestinians, the injury of about 11,750, and the arrest of nearly 22,000.
