In Zimbabwe, nurses will go on strike starting Monday, their unions announced. They are demanding better wages, as well as improved working conditions, which they say have been deplorable since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic.
With nurses already understaffed, this strike action risks paralyzing the entire health sector .
This is the second time nurses have gone on strike since the virus appeared in the country. In 2020, some hospitals had to turn away patients due to a lack of nursing staff.
