A few weeks before the start of the World Cup in North America, Senegal has published the list of 28 players, two of whom will be dropped by the beginning of June.
Their names are finally known: 28 Lions, carefully selected by Pape Thiaw, are on the official list of the Senegalese Football Federation, published on Thursday, May 21.
Among them are well-known names, such as Idrissa Gana Gueye in midfield, who will thus participate in the third World Cup of his career, or Kalidou Koulibaly, an indispensable member of the defense.
But there are also some surprises: we notably discover Bara Sapoko Ndiaye, an 18-year-old Bayern Munich player. Pape Thiaw has also called up Moustapha Mbow, a defender for Paris FC, for the first time.
The announcement of the list was accompanied by a video using artificial intelligence that went viral on social media.
Senegal has been placed in Group I and will therefore face Iraq, Norway, and France in the first round. The Lions' first match will take place on June 16 against the French team at the stadium in New York, New Jersey.
