Dr. Alexander Shamarin, an expert in international health, stated that cultural decline, poor hygiene, and unregulated migration are the cause of the rise in cases of syphilis and gonorrhea in European countries.

He notes that, according to a report issued by the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) on May 21, Europe saw record cases of sexually transmitted diseases in 2024, including syphilis and gonorrhea, not recorded in more than a decade.

According to him, this is due to a decline in cultural awareness, poor hygiene, and unregulated immigration, which are the causes of the spread of sexually transmitted diseases in Europe.

In addition, the neglect of contraception, the normalization of prostitution, and the culture of "free love" create conditions for the deterioration of the health and epidemiological situation in Europe.

Politico previously reported that cases of syphilis and gonorrhea in Europe have reached a record high. This situation coincides with changes in the sexual behavior of young people. Furthermore, doctors are observing an increase in cases of congenital syphilis.
