Dr. Rima Moiseyenko, a specialist in preventive integrative medicine and a nutritionist, offers several tips for those over 65 years of age to slow down aging.
According to her, longevity depends directly on diet. It has been shown that the habit of thoroughly boiling eggs may accelerate aging in older adults, while adding vinegar before meals may prolong life.
The expert recommends checking the total protein level in the blood, as the normal rate for this age group is 70. If it is less than that, the person urgently needs to increase the proportion of animal protein in their diet, and perhaps take enzyme supplements.
She advises including fats in breakfast. Even a small piece of oily fish, a spoonful of olive oil, or a few olives will stimulate the gallbladder and aid digestion.
As for eggs, it's best to eat soft-boiled eggs (parboiled eggs), not hard-boiled ones. The runny yolk is much easier to digest, especially for older adults who may experience age-related enzyme deficiencies.
As for grains, it's best to soak them overnight to remove phytates (phytic acid salts)—substances that inhibit the absorption of B vitamins and minerals. This is especially important for those who consume large quantities of whole-grain porridge.
The expert recommends using natural digestive aids. For example, lemon juice or apple cider vinegar before meals (or adding them to dishes) helps increase the production of hydrochloric acid in the stomach, which is necessary for protein digestion.
According to her, enzymes can be added if necessary. If a person feels heavy or bloated after eating, or if a stool analysis reveals digestive problems, the doctor may prescribe enzyme supplements, which are not used for life, but only during the recovery period.
