Indonesian women's doubles pair Apriyani Rahayu/Lanny Tria Mayasari had to work hard before securing their ticket to the last 16 of the BWF World Tour Super 500 Malaysia Masters 2026 after defeating fellow Indonesian representatives Isyana Syahira Meida/Rinjani Kwinnara Nastine with a score of 22-20, 19-21, 21-17 at the Axiata Arena, Kuala Lumpur.
Despite the victory, Apriyani/Lanny admitted to losing control of the game after leading the first two games, forcing their opponents to come back and force a rubber. Lanny said they let their guard down after taking the lead, allowing their opponents to take control of the game.
"Thank God, we were able to win the match without injury. In the first and second games, we had a big lead, but after that, instead of pressing the game, we relaxed. We defended too much, and when they took control of our attack, we panicked and made a lot of mistakes," Lanny said in an official PBSI statement after the match.
He said this situation was an important evaluation, especially after a similar experience occurred at the Thailand Open the previous week.
