Liverpool defender Ibrahima Konaté has been the target of racist insults online, the English club denounced.
These attacks follow the Champions League match against Galatasaray, during which the player was involved in an action leading to the injury of striker Victor Osimhen.
In a press release, Liverpool condemns "dehumanizing and hateful" comments and calls on social networks to take more action. The club believes that these platforms have the necessary means to fight against these abuses.
Liverpool also say they support their player and are working with authorities to identify the perpetrators.
This new incident is part of a worrying series. Last month, several Premier League players were also victims of racist insults online.
Associations denounce a persistent phenomenon in football, and call for immediate measures to put an end to it.
