Researchers suggest that ginger may contribute to boosting women's libido by reducing feelings of disgust, which may have a positive impact on their emotional lives.

A Chinese study found that women who consume larger amounts of ginger, whether in food, drinks, or supplements, achieve higher levels of sexual desire, arousal, and satisfaction in their romantic relationships, while this effect was not recorded in men.

The study was based on an analysis of the sex lives of more than 2,000 people, along with measuring the amount of ginger they consume daily.

Ginger is a common ingredient in Chinese cuisine and has traditionally been associated with health and longevity. It is also used to relieve some symptoms such as nausea and colds.

Ginger contains an active compound known as "6-gingerol," which is responsible for its effect in reducing nausea.

In one experiment, researchers noted that couples who took ginger supplements daily for a month had sex more frequently than those who took a placebo.

Despite these results, the precise scientific reason behind this effect remains unclear, and it is not known why its effect might be associated with women rather than men.

Researchers from Hangzhou Medical College in China and New York University Shanghai suggest that ginger may reduce the feeling of disgust, a sensation associated with nausea, which may make women more receptive to sexual experiences.

The study, published in the International Journal of Sexual Health, indicates that women are evolutionarily predisposed to take more cautious and selective stances in sexual relationships, which is associated with increased sensitivity to disgust and lower levels of sexual arousal, which may constitute a psychological barrier that some interventions, such as ginger, can help alleviate.
