Google has updated its AI Overviews and AI Mode artificial intelligence features on its search engine services by displaying search results processed from various sources including social media, expert blogs, and online forums such as Reddit.
According to Google will display "previews of perspectives from online public discussions, social media, and other direct sources" through a new section that appears in search results powered by artificial intelligence.
In the example shown by the company, there is a section labeled "Expert Advice" that displays quotes from forums, WordPress blogs, and Reddit along with links to the original sources.
Google also plans to add additional context to these links, such as the name of the creator, account, or associated community, to make it easier for users to assess the source of information before opening the link.
Additionally, the company will begin recommending long-form articles for in-depth topic research at the end of AI answers and show more links to sources directly within AI responses, not just at the bottom of search results.
For users who subscribe to a particular publication and connect it to their Google account, the source of that publication will also be highlighted in the AI response.
