Having reached the Madrid Open final, Zverev is ready to face Sinner again

Alexander Zverev is ready for another crucial match against world number one Jannik Sinner after the German secured his place in the 2026 Madrid Open final.

The second seed cruised to a 6-2, 7-5 victory over 21-year-old Belgian Alexander Blockx in the semifinals on Saturday, maintaining his impressive record in the tournament.

"I'm really happy to be in the final," Zverev said after the match, as quoted by ATP.

"There were a lot of tough battles, especially early in the tournament. I'm looking forward to playing Jannik again and expecting a tough match. The better player will win."

With his 30th victory in the Spanish capital, Zverev became only the third player, along with Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal, to reach the final in Madrid four times.

Zverev defeated Flavio Cobolli by dropping just five games in the quarterfinals and carried that momentum into his meeting with Blockx, a first-time Masters 1000 semifinalist who had never won a tour-level clay-court match before April.

From the start, Zverev dominated. He opened his shoulders to beat Blockx in dynamic court conditions, while also becoming more consistent in longer exchanges.

After one hour and 35 minutes, the seven-time Masters 1000 champion secured his first final of the season and a familiar encounter with Sinner.
