The 4th Nika Kalila Masters Swimming Championship 2026 will be a cross-age competition and part of Indonesia's preparations for the 2026 Southeast Asia Masters Swimming Championship in Jakarta.
Harlin E Rahardjo, the Daily Chairperson of the Indonesian Aquatics Executive Board (PB AI), who is also the Chairperson of the Steering Committee for the 4th Nika Kalila Masters Swimming Championship 2026, said that the championship, which was attended by 122 swimmers from various regions, including Malaysia, proved that swimming can be pursued by all age groups.
"This swim proves that swimming is a sport for all ages. Age doesn't matter; everyone's enthusiasm is the same," Harlin said in an official statement in Jakarta on Monday.
The championship, which took place at the Nika Training Pool in Bintaro last weekend, featured 16 events and was attended by swimmers ranging in age from 25 years to the over 80 years category.
Harlin said the competition format, which combines participants based on their best times, not just age groups, is part of the spirit of making swimming a sport that is open to all groups.
According to him, the holding of the Nika Kalila Masters Swimming Championship is also in line with the "Let's Swim" movement launched by PB AI to encourage public interest in swimming.
