The head of the Federal Biomedical Agency, Veronika Skvortsova, announced that the first five patients who received the Russian vaccine against colorectal cancer are undergoing treatment, while 35 other people are waiting to receive it.

The vaccination process began last March, and since then the first patient has received six doses of the colorectal cancer vaccine.

"So far, it can be said that the vaccine is well-tolerated and safe, and it produces a sufficient immune response, which is the response we expected," Veronika Skvortsova said in an interview with the newspaper Izvestia.

She added that assessing the clinical effectiveness of the vaccine requires a longer follow-up period of at least several months.

It is worth noting that Skvortsova had previously announced, in statements to the newspaper "Rossiyskaya Gazeta," the development of two therapeutic vaccines in Russia for the treatment of colorectal cancer: a peptide vaccine called "Oncopept" and an mRNA vaccine known as "Oncorna." Both vaccines work by directing the immune system to attack cancer cells.
